Sri Vijaya Puram, May 30, 2026:
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather advisory warning of squally weather conditions along and off the Andaman and Nicobar coast over the coming days.
According to the advisory, strong surface winds reaching 40–50 kmph with gusts up to 60 kmph are very likely to prevail over the region. Sea conditions are expected to remain rough, posing risks to marine activities and small fishing vessels.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the Andaman Sea till June 2, 2026, in view of the adverse weather and rough sea conditions.
Authorities have urged residents, fishermen, and coastal communities to remain alert and follow official weather updates and safety advisories issued by the concerned departments.
The administration continues to monitor the situation closely, while maritime operators and fishing communities have been requested to exercise caution until conditions improve.
