Kolkata, June 21:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday commissioned three indigenously designed and built naval platforms  INS Dunagiri, INS Sanshodhak and INS Agray at a ceremony held in Kolkata.

The induction of the three vessels marks a significant milestone in India's efforts to strengthen maritime security and advance the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat through indigenous defence manufacturing.

INS Dunagiri is an advanced stealth frigate equipped with modern surveillance systems, sensors and weapon platforms designed to enhance the Indian Navy's operational capabilities across multiple mission profiles.

INS Sanshodhak is a modern survey vessel intended for hydrographic and oceanographic operations. The platform will support navigational safety, maritime mapping and scientific studies in Indian waters.

INS Agray is an anti-submarine warfare vessel developed to detect, track and counter underwater threats in coastal and near-shore environments, contributing to maritime security and naval preparedness.

Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi said the commissioning of the three platforms reflects India's growing defence capabilities and increasing self-reliance in strategic sectors.

He emphasized that maritime strength plays a vital role in enhancing a nation's economic influence, trade security and strategic reach.
