Students of a government school in Fatehpur district, Uttar Pradesh, staged a protest demanding better basic facilities, drawing attention to issues they said were affecting their learning environment.

The schoolchildren sought functioning ceiling fans, proper classroom benches, repairs to damaged classrooms and access to clean RO drinking water. Videos of the demonstration, showing students gathered outside the school premises, circulated widely on social media.

During the protest, some students also alleged that they had faced physical and verbal abuse by teachers. These allegations have not been independently verified.

Local education authorities have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated an inquiry into both the infrastructure-related complaints and the allegations made by the students. Officials have stated that appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
