Students of PM SHRI Government Senior Secondary School, Mengalwa, in Rajasthan's Jalore district staged a protest over an alleged shortage of teaching staff, arguing that regular classes could not function effectively without adequate teachers.
According to reports, the students locked the school's main gate and refused to attend classes for several hours, demanding the appointment of additional teachers. Videos of the protest circulated widely on social media, bringing attention to the staffing issues at the school.
The protesters maintained that despite the school's inclusion under the PM SHRI scheme, the shortage of teachers was affecting classroom teaching and learning. They urged the education department to fill vacant posts at the earliest.
Following the demonstration, education authorities engaged with the students and local residents. Reports indicate that five teachers were deployed to the school after the protest, although officials have not announced whether these appointments are permanent.
The incident has renewed discussions on teacher vacancies in government schools and the importance of ensuring that educational infrastructure is supported by adequate teaching staff to provide quality education.
