The Andaman & Nicobar Islands rowing team secured three medals at the 27th Sub-Junior National Rowing Championship 2026, held at Rabindra Sarobar Lake in Kolkata, West Bengal.

The championship was held from 5 to 9 August 2026 and was organised by the Rowing Federation of India. The Andaman & Nicobar Rowing Association had conducted selection trials in July to choose the Islands' team for the national championship.

According to the results provided to Dweep Tulika, Carelyne and Sunidhi won a Silver Medal in the YJG2X category.

In the SJG2 category, Zeeya Victor and Anu secured a Bronze Medal. Another Bronze Medal was won by Sanvi, Anita, Suzun and Lenity in the SJG4 category.

The three-medal haul included one silver and two bronze medals across different events.

The performances represent a notable achievement for the young rowers from the Islands, particularly given the geographical challenges involved in accessing mainland sporting competitions and training opportunities.

Shri G. Bhasker, President of the Andaman & Nicobar Rowing Association, along with committee members, congratulated the medal-winning athletes and their coaches for their performances. The association appreciated the rowers' commitment and hard work and conveyed its best wishes for their future competitions.

The achievement adds to the growing participation of young athletes from the Islands in national-level sporting events.
