The ICMR–Regional Medical Research Centre (ICMR-RMRC), Sri Vijaya Puram, hosted the fourth Sensitization Programme on Health Technology Assessment India (HTAIn) on October 8, 2026, at its conference hall.

The one-day programme was jointly organised by the Directorate of Health Services, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, and ICMR-RMRC, in collaboration with ICMR–National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis (ICMR-NIRT), Chennai, under the Department of Health Research.

Health Technology Assessment (HTA) is a systematic approach to evaluating the clinical effectiveness, safety and cost-effectiveness of medicines, medical devices and health programmes. Health Technology Assessment India, under the Department of Health Research, supports transparent, evidence-informed decision-making in healthcare. The approach can help policymakers assess health interventions and make informed choices about the use of limited healthcare resources.

The sensitization programme provided a platform for engagement with the HTAIn framework and its relevance to healthcare decision-making. The participation of experts from the HTA Secretariat and ICMR-NIRT brought together perspectives from health technology assessment and medical research.

The programme was held as part of efforts to familiarise health-sector stakeholders with health technology assessment and its potential role in supporting evidence-informed health policies and resource allocation.
